2026 Goals

Restoration

  • Identify and collect seed from 150-200 new candidates for rust resistance testing and planting on the Bridger Teton, Caribou Targhee and Inyo National Forests and Yellowstone National, Grand Teton, North Cascades, Yosemite National, Sequoia Kings National Parks.
  • Plant 6,500 seedlings on 40 acres on the Bridger Teton and Caribou Targhee National Forests.

Protection

  • Deploy pheromone packets to safeguard 5,000 mature, rust-resistant seed trees in the Bridger Teton and Caribou Targhee National Forests and Grand Teton and North Cascades National Parks.
  • Eliminate beetle larvae in 120-140 infected whitebark in Grand Teton National Park using a highly effective bark removal technique we developed.

Partnerships

  • Sustain robust partnerships with American Forests, the Park Service and Forest Service to support public land managers through project initiation and completion, resource support, expertise and knowledge transfer.
  • Initiate additional tree protection, cone collection and planting projects with the Caribou Targhee, Bridger Teton and Inyo National Forests. 
  • Launch a new monitoring project with an existing or new partner in an under-surveyed region.
